	Editorial Los beneficios de la crisis mundial de alimentos Por fin, el dinero regresa al campo. La agricultura y las actividades pecuarias, estuvieron en un proceso de descapitalización crónico durante décadas, en donde toda alternativa de negocio era mejor que invertir en el campo. El valor de las cosechas cayó a niveles impredecibles y los que aún ganaban dinero prefirieron invertir en otro tipo de actividad económica desviando recursos económicos y humanos. Como resultado miles de hectáreas fueron abandonadas en diversos países del mundo, principalmente en los de economías emergentes, en donde sus habitantes rurales emigraron hacia las ciudades o a otros países en la búsqueda de mejores oportunidades.

	Editorial Cuando un productor acuícola ha desarrollado su empresa a base de convencer a las autoridades ambientales de que su actividad, lejos de perjudicar el medio ambiente, lo beneficiará al regresar el agua en mejor estado de cómo la incorpora al proceso de cultivo; o convencer a la sociedad circundante de que su proyecto es socialmente viable porque genera empleos en áreas rurales; o persuadir a las fuentes financieras de la conveniencia económica y financiera del cultivo para poder tener acceso a créditos y soportes financieros; y hasta convencer al mercado de que un producto de acuicultura es igual o mejor que el de la pesca —eso sin considerar la costosa curva de aprendizaje del proceso tecnológico que ya pasó entre erráticos técnicos, biólogos e ingenieros que le han hecho gastar una fortuna — se enfrenta a un problema epidemiológico como la “Mancha Blanca” en camarón o el “Virus ISA” en salmón. ¿A quién va a tener que convencer para que invierta millones y millones de dólares en encontrar una solución sanitaria al problema y salvar la industria?
